As the #1 Japanese hip-hop DJ for the longest time it's almost impossible to imagine anyone challenging DJ Krush's supremacy as the beat beast from the Far East. For the first time NZ has the chance to experience the 'rising sun' selection and samurai skills on the ones and two's of a true hip-hop legend who has been leaving gobs smacked and jaws dropped worldwide for two decades.

From his early exposure to the old school classic movie 'Wild Style' in 1982, Hideaki Ishii a.k.a. DJ Krush has devoted his life to producing and cutting-up hip-hop creating his own truly unique sound in the process. Following his legendary single with DJ Shadow 'Kemuri', Krush unleashed the completely unique 'Strictly Turntabilized' album on Mo' Wax in 94. Nine years later this album still has few contemporaries, and sounds as fresh as the day it was released. His next Mo' Wax release 'Meiso' included collabos with CL Smooth, Guru and Big Shug, Malik B and Black Thought from the Roots as well as fellow traveller DJ Shadow it also exposed the trademark, minimal and progressive Krush sound to a wider audience.

Since then he has released numerous records for Sony Japan, R&S, Ninja Tune, Shadow (U.S.A.) And many other labels each taking the listener to a different part of his mindscape. Described by Mixmag as 'mix and scratchology at it's very highest level' his Ninja Tune mix-CD 'Cold Krush Cuts' is regarded as a premier stand-alone demonstration of his ferocious skills and sublime sleight of hand on the 1200's. 'Zen' released to worldwide acclaim in 2002 pushed the Krush legend further as an out-of-genre experience with guests including Company Flow, N'dea Davenport and Zap Mama; The Listener said 'with Zen he appears to have perfected the formula'. Sly'n'Robbie, Anticon and the Anti-Pop Consortium joined the well-connected sensei for his latest album 'The Message At The Depth' meaning that we are catching Krush at yet another creative peak.

With 20 years training at the highest temples of turntabilism Krush will be delivering the mother lode for the old school heads and freaking the flavour for students of the future. Like a master swordsman of old he will cutting and slicing with consummate skill, this is a one-off chance to experience the atmospheric selection and exceptional skills of Japan's finest - don't kip on the Krush!
